Instagram has added a simple way to create compelling Reels from existing video clips, with a new option, called First Draft, that will generate a first attempt at a Reel based on user inputs.
As shown in these example images, First Draft will put together an engaging Reel based on multiple video clips, by picking out the best parts of each clip and aligning them into a single video.

Instagram said this will simplify the creation flow by including all of its key creation tools in one place.
Combine this with the ever-expanding range of editing tools available in Instagram’s Edits video editing app, and there are now a wide range of easy ways to create interesting, engaging video clips in the app.
If nothing else, this could be a valuable starting point because it cuts down on consternation and second-guessing by generating the basic framework of a Reel using already captured clips.
And with Reels consumption accounting for some 50% of all time spent on IG, that could be an important consideration, making it easier to tap into key engagement opportunities in the app.
Users will be able to access First Draft either in the Reels gallery or in the Instagram camera.
